The annual UCR Concours d’Elegance and Show & Shine event is a Go with a return to the grounds of Legendary Motorcar Company in Halton Hills on Sunday, September 21st from 9am to 2pm. Aside from the scenic local backdrop for our beautiful cars, this locale offers an added attraction with the stunning automobile displays of Legendary Motorcar Company on the very same grounds. Spectators are welcome free of charge to take in the UCR Concours, but we urge you to enter your car for a new low registration fee and take part in all the fun! Entry to the Legendary Motorcar displays is subject to a $5.00 admission fee per person 18 years and older – 100% of this will go to charity.
This year we will offer a small change in format: there will be no pre-registration, all Porsches are welcome and entrants will pay a new, super-low price of only 20 Dollars per car right at the gate by cash or cheque and, ALL participants will leave the event as winners and with a beautiful memento and goodie bag to take home.
All Porsche cars are welcome, from 356 to Macan, and will be divided into 21 separate classes. Also welcome are Special Interest and Competition Porsche Cars. Non-PCA members are welcome to enter the event too!
Simply arrive just before 9am on the morning of September 21, pay the registration fee, and park your car in the allocated area for your Porsche model and year. As usual, there will be Peer-Judging with “Winners” and “Runners-up” in each of the 21 classes, with trophies awarded, plus we will have a People’s Choice Award Trophy as selected by all participants and spectators.
Additionally, as it was so well received last year, the special “Full-Concours” Judged program will be offered again this year. In order to allow the judges sufficient time to do a thorough “Concours” level inspection on each vehicle, only the first five cars registered on the day of the event in three specific categories as specified below for a total of 15 cars will be accepted into the program. Concours Score Certificates will be issued to these participants and trophies awarded to Class Winners and Runners-Up. Full-Concours cars must be positioned in place by no later than 9am, when the judging will begin – so, arrive no later than 8:30am if you wish to participate in this special category. ALL judging will end at noon sharp.
Writes head judge, Bruce Farrow: “The Judged Class is back!”
The “Judged Class” was wildly popular and even a bit controversial at the 2013 UCR Concours. Hopefully, entrants learned a few things from last year’s event and are ready to present their cars in the best condition that they can be.
There will be three judged classes this year with a limit of 5 cars per class. The classes are: 1949-1973 “Vintage”; 1974-1998 “Historic”; 1999-2015 “Contemporary”.
Cars will be screened for entry into the judged class as they drive into the event at the registration area – first come, first served.
Judged class cars will be identified with a windshield medallion and they can be in the general Peer-Judging and People’s Choice grouping displays. This year, we are fortunate to have four professional automotive appraisers from PAVE (www.trustpave.com) to do the judging. All four are PCA members!
At the end of the day, the three top cars from the Judged Class will drive to the announcement stand to receive their awards (space permitting). At that time, the “Best in Show – Judged Classes” will be awarded.
This is a fun family event in a very relaxed setting, and a time to catch up with old and new Porsche buddies and speak our common language: Porsche. A variety of food will be available from a caterer – from breakfast to lunch, but don’t hesitate to bring a picnic, chairs and sun umbrella.
So, get ready to shine up your baby for September 21 (rain date, September 28) and follow news on the UCR website for additional details as they unfold. We’ll see you at THE Porsche Gathering of the Season!

About “Heather’s Hero’s” by Douglas Kurtin:
Heather’s Hero’s was created after my wife was diagnosed with cancer 6 years ago; she fought a valiant battle and thankfully is in remission. We felt strongly it was time for us to give back and support the Princess Margaret Hospital. During our first 2 years we participated in the Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer and raised just under $90,000. In 2014 we participated in the Ride To Conquer Cancer in support of Princess Margaret Hospital and raised just over $47,000. We will again be participating in the Ride to Conquer Cancer and hope to raise $50,000 in 2015. Anyone wishing to donate can go to www.conquercancer.ca and donate to Dougie Kurtin.
Additional generous support of the 2014 UCR Concours event is provided by our Printing Partner, Harmony Printing; ‘Goodie’ Supplier, Snap-On Tools Canada; and advertising sponsors Hagerty Insurance, Auguste Automobile and Dent Doctor Canada.
