The PCA club racers have now been given the green flag for the 2023 Club Race season! The Mosport CAN-AM Challenge will take place August 4-6, 2023 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP, aka Mosport) in Bowmanville, Ontario. This year will be the 26th running of the Can-Am Challenge Club Race. The fact that the club race has managed to sustain its presence at a premier North American track is a true testament to both the hard work and dedication of the many volunteers and the enthusiasm of the club racers who each show their commitment to the event year after year.
The first four sanctioned PCA races were approved in 1991 and took place in 1992 in the USA. It was not until four years later, in 1996, that the first sanctioned PCA UCR Club Race took place. It was the start of a new UCR tradition so it was only fitting that the first Canadian Club Race took place at Mosport (today known as Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, CTMP), a track steeped in tradition & history. Mosport Park, which opened in 1961 in Bowmanville, Ontario, is just a short drive east from Toronto. It has come to be known as a world class facility and is North America’s fastest road course and one of the most challenging race tracks. It has been host to major events like FIA Formula One, Can-Am, USAC Championship, FIM World Superbike Championship, IMSA Weathertech SportCar Championship, NASCAR Pinty’s Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series to name a few. Mosport has seen the likes of great drivers such as Jackie Stewart, James Hunt and Emerson Fittipaldi and has been a favorite of many international pro drivers.
The popularity of the PCA UCR Club Race event has no doubt been the result of having one of the best tracks in North America combined with the largest chapter of the PCA. CTMP’s close proximity to Toronto attracts racers from long and far and PCA UCR members should feel extremely fortunate that we have such a great facility right in our own backyard.
CTMP has made many improvements to the grounds and facilities including a new paddock and new and improved runoff areas. All PCA club racers must have this event on their calendar at least once. Why not make it your first choice of events to participate in for 2016? Club racers should book early and experience the thrill of racing this legendary track and not miss out on the opportunity to race where the pros race.
If you are not a club racer, the event weekend will also include Advanced Solo Lapping for those interested. There will be less restrictive passing rules at this event than most other driver education events. This will only be open to Advanced Solo Drivers in the Red, Black and some White run groups.

On behalf of the Board and all members of the PCA UCR, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those Race Club Chairs & volunteers that have participated in this event in the past. Without you, we would not have been able to make it happen as there is a tremendous amount of work that goes on behind the scenes long before the day of the event.
We want to remind everyone that the 2016 PCA UCR Club race event is not just for racers and solo drivers. It is an event that can be enjoyed by all PCA UCR members. Please come out and support your friends and members in their quest for the weekend’s highest honor. It you are interested in volunteering for this year’s club race event, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org We are always grateful for the assistance of a few extra people to assist in pulling off this first class event.
On behalf of the PCA UCR, we look forward seeing everyone at the track in August.
