Beat The Winter Blahs

DASHING THROUGH THE SNOW — in a 400-horsepower sleigh?!

Driving isn’t seasonal and driving a Porsche needn’t be either — so come on out March 9 to PCA UCR’s Niagara Escarpment Winter Driving Tour.  Back by popular demand and once again sponsored by Porsche Centre Oakville, which is providing the lead Macan.

The only prerequisite: Your Porsche must wear, at minimum, all-season tires but, preferably, winter tires.

This is a fantastic opportunity to stretch the legs of a Cayenne, Macan or Panamera, leaving the 911 or Boxster tucked away in winter hibernation. Plus, as a bonus, the larger Porsches allow you to bring along more than just one passenger. The more the merrier, fun is best enjoyed when shared. But all Porsches, including even two-doors, are welcome with the appropriate seasonal footwear. No summer performance tires are permitted. And, sorry, no Kia winter beaters.

This driving tour follows the Niagara escarpment, starting just outside Hamilton and wrapping up in Queenston Heights and Old Town Niagara-On-The-Lake on the Niagara River.

Porsche heaven awaits with some of the escarpment’s best twists and turns and ups and downs. We meet at 12 p.m., one hour later we visit Henry Of Pelham winery and sample a couple of its outstanding vintages including — ‘tis the season! — a delicious and decadent ice wine. At 5 p.m. we roll into The Old Winery Restaurant in Niagara-On-The-Lake for a nice gourmet three-course dinner in a private dining room overlooking our very own reserved Porsche parking lot.

Spots are limited, so register today! Registration is currently open on ClubReg.

Perhaps book a hotel in Niagara-On-The-Lake and make this a mini winter vacation.

The gourmet three-course dinner includes:

  • Choice of soup, Caesar salad or mixed artisanal greens
  • Choice of prosciutto-wrapped chicken with roasted potatoes, house-made gnocchi in a gorgonzola cream sauce, or catch of the day (likely pan-seared salmon but to be determined)
  • Dessert is a decadent surprise!

The cost of $62 per person includes the three-course dinner with taxes and 18-percent gratuity, as well as the wine tasting.

Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines! And warm up your winter! </>
