David Raeside’s 1996 911 Carrera

JUST AFTER GETTING MARRIED, my wife and I relocated to Munich, Germany for work. It was a wonderful opportunity to experience a new culture and a new way of life. Seeing a 993 in Canada was relatively uncommon but in Munich I would regularly see them driving the streets. A neighbour close to us had a black C4S that they drove all-year long. I stopped to admire that car every single time I walked by it.

Upon returning to Canada I knew that I needed to have one of my own. As luck would have it, I found an ad online for a low-mileage Grand Prix White one. It was owned by a doctor who didn’t have time to drive it much. After an inspection and some negotiation a deal was struck. My wife and I took a train to Ottawa to pick it up. I felt very lucky to get this car, it’s in exceptional condition and the previous owner took incredible care of it. Over the past six years of ownership, the car hasn’t failed me once which is a real testament to the engineering put into this incredible machine. It’s not as fast as newer 911s, but for me nothing can replace the experience of owning and driving the last of the great air-cooled 911s. </>
