Shift Into Success

I’M NOT SURE HOW MANY YEARS Shift Into Spring has been running. I do know that I’ve been involved one way or another for 20 or so years, and there was a dedicated team before me. That is one of the great things about UCR, a blend of new ideas and old to suit as many members as possible. Mark Solomon (co-chair) and I started working on the 2023 Shift Into Spring last November. None of these events happen by chance. UCR runs on volunteers who spend countless hours to make sure everything comes off without a hitch.

This year’s iteration of Shift Into Spring saw a move from our home for many years, CSN 427 Auto Collision to Porsche Centre Vaughan. A huge thank-you to Pfaff for lending us the use of their facility and helping us in so many ways to stage Shift. We had our fingers crossed for good weather, and, as it turned out, It was sunny and just warm enough that everyone was comfortable. The huge parking lot certainly came in handy. For a good two hours of the three hours that Shift ran, that lot was completely filled. And a bonus, visitors spent an extraordinary amount of time out in the parking lot admiring all those beautiful Porsches.

We had a nice turn-out of vendors, including a few new ones. I spoke with the owners of Lustre Touch, and they booked six customers for detailing and 20 more that they said fully intended to book time, so they were very happy. The Goodie Store had a wide variety of new items and did brisk business. Many club events were represented and inside the service bay. Many members certainly benefited from discussions with event chairs. And everyone connected with friends they hadn’t seen for months – the most important result from Shift into Spring! </>
