On November 30th – as a chill filled the air – 94 UCR enthusiasts plus the new president of Porsche Canada Ltd, Trevor Arthur, gathered at Markland Wood Golf Club for our year-end banquet – aka the UCR Awards Gala. This marked the largest banquet we have had since the pandemic, with everyone enjoying a glass of bubbly and hors d’oeuvres served by wait staff wondering amongst the guests, who were busy renewing friendships, rehashing the year and chatting up a storm. Our delicious dinner consisted of three courses, with three choices of entrees, in an attempt to please all tastes.
Trevor Arthur – who comes back to Canada after eight years at the LA Porsche Experience Center provided us with an update on the new Porsche Experience Center being built in Pickering, the 10th in the world and third in North America. We can look forward to it opening in 2025. Trevor also presented, on behalf of UCR, the Enthusiast of the Year Award to Gerry Cornwell, who in addition to running Driving Tours has been heavily involved in Concours and Picnic. We also gave out anniversary awards, along with awards recognizing retiring volunteers. A great time was had by all, so hats off to the key organizers Sylvie Neill, Andrea Heitz and Kathrin Menge.
