Bear Manor Niagara Poker Fun Run

DON’T KNOW HOW it keeps coming thru… the sun that is, for our 7th straight year of sunshine… and it was a hot one for sure.

We set up extra tents for shade so all could enjoy the 5 generations of P-cars on display over lunch in our backyard. Prizes went out this year for the top ten poker hands. Our thanks to WeatherTech and Pfaff for helping us out this year on prizes. Our band, MISQ’d (with PCA member Stewart on drums and myself on guitar/keyboard) finished the day off with two sets of “sweltering” classic rock. Like I said, it was a hot one.

For Jennifer and I, it has been our pleasure hosting for these past 7 years, however we’ll be taking a break in 2018. We are grateful to all the returnee’s that come back every year and especially for the hosting first time “Fun-runners”. Kim and David Lloyd are two of these first timers and kindly wrote a few paragraphs on their experience.

Enjoy your summer of 2018 and the fun runs, rambles, rallies and tours UCR has to offer.

A day filled with twists and turns capped by some well played poker hands.

As my inaugural fun run (and my wife, Kim’s) I’m embarrassed to say I’ve been a member for about 7 years but never taken any advantage of all the club membership has to offer.

The day started and stayed warm and sunny as a line-up of classic and modern Porsches wound their way through the picturesque Niagara escarpment.

Starting with a couple of questionable poker cards, we took a brief pause for a wine tasting at the Megalomaniac winery while also collecting 2 more cards and some great photos. Winding our way back to Vaughn’s home we twisted and turned our way past Balls Falls ending our day with a beautiful lineup of Porsches, a wonderful lunch, great conversation, entertainment and 2 more cards.

Alas, our best 5 cards only resulted in an 11th place poker finish. We were also mistaken, the GT3 was not first prize for the best hand, but there were other great prizes, nonetheless! We will be back for more fun after this amazing experience with fellow enthusiasts. </>
