UCR Ski Day at Devil’s Glen Ski Club @ Devil's Glen Ski Club
Feb 28 all-day

This year’s PCA UCR Ski Day will be on Friday February 28, 2020 at the Devil’s Glen Ski Club. We are alternating the Ski Day between a couple of the great ski clubs to provide variety. “Ontario’s Best Kept Secret” Devil’s Glen is nestled within the Niagara Escarpment on nearly 600 acres of spectacular countryside, just 1 ½ hours north of Toronto and 20 minutes south of Collingwood. Devil’s Glen is known for its steeps and advanced Terrain Park, but also has slopes for all levels of skier and snowboarder, plus picturesque snowshoe trails.

A hot lunch buffet and a beverage are included in the ticket price. Our group will have a designated area for lunch and après-ski in the stunning post and beam lodge.

Date: Friday February 28, 2020

Time: Arrival approximately 9:00 am. UCR Group Skiing begins 10:00 am at the ski racks at bottom of hill. Lifts close at 4:00 pm. An après-ski (hosted by Himmelfarb Proszanski, Barristers and Solicitors) will be in a designated area in the lodge.

Location: Devils Glen Ski Club,  1793 County Road 124, Duntroon, Ontario, L0M 1H0.  About a 1 ½ hour drive from Toronto, plus a memorable stroll across the Mad River that’s worth the price of admission.

Macan, Cayenne And Panamera Winter Driving Tour
Mar 7 all-day

Driving isn’t seasonal, driving a Porsche needn’t be either! Not only is this a fantastic opportunity to stretch the legs of a Macan, Cayenne or Panamera — sorry, very exclusive driving tour, no other models allowed — but also to enjoy a very unique seasonal experience of seeing the mighty Niagara Falls in the winter, including a special Journey Behind The Falls excursion and a multi-course gourmet lunch at Table Rock House Restaurant directly overlooking the impressive waterfalls. Plus, as a bonus, the larger Porsches allow you to bring along more than just one passenger. The more the merrier, fun is best enjoyed when shared. Porsche heaven awaits with some of the Niagara escarpment’s best twists and turns and ups and downs — and some of the area’s most scenic back roads, including the world-famous Niagara River Parkway, perhaps dressed in a blanket of white at this cooler time of year. We meet in the late morning close to the Niagara area, just off the QEW, and wrap up around 5 p.m. in Niagara Falls and Niagara-On-The-Lake. Limited spots. Perhaps book a hotel or bed and breakfast, make this a mini winter vacation. Along with chef’s soup du jour and a wonderful special dessert feature, the gourmet lunch includes a main-course choice of:

  • herb-crusted chicken supreme with maple vidal roasted garlic
  • baked Atlantic cod in a lemon pepper crust with riesling dill sauce
  • wild mushroom ravioli with seasonal vegetables and baby arugula pesto cream sauce

Hosted by PCA UCR Driving Tours, driving-tours@pcaucr.org, 20 Porsches, 175 kilometres, cost $59 per person (includes multi-course gourmet lunch and Journey Behind The Falls attraction)

UCR Spring Rally @ 427 Auto Collision
Apr 19 @ 8:00 am – 11:30 am

Starting Point @8:00am (Sharp!): 427 Auto Collision, 395 Evans Ave, Etobicoke

Ending Point @11:30am:  427 Auto Collision, 395 Evans Ave, Etobicoke

There will be lots of prizes and the Rally entry fee is a nominal $20 per car. Lunch is not included in the registration fee, but available at the end of the rally at the UCR Open House for a charitable donation by purchasing meal tickets.

Advance registration is required at https://clubregistration.net/events/signUp.cfm/event/10328

Participants must be at the 427 Auto Collision at 8:00am sharp to register and attend the drivers briefing while snacking on coffee and donuts. Cars will depart at 8:30am.

A Rally is a technical driving event. Multiple checkpoints time the cars and penalize early or late arrivals at checkpoints. Trip odometers are set to zero at the calibration point after a short drive from the starting point to get drivers and navigators accustomed to the written instructions of the route. From the calibration point forward, there will be no information about road names. Navigators must pay careful attention to the way points, landmarks and constantly check with drivers for odometer readings. Driving directions forward of the calibration point are provided in Kilometres and Miles, such as “Drive 3km (1.86 Miles) and turn right” followed by step-by-step distance to each way point for navigation of the entire rally. The route instruction sheet will also have questions about significant landmarks to score points for observation, so familiarize yourself with the questions before you drive off and keep eyes open to recognize and record the landmarks.
