UCR’s fourth annual Spring Awakening Niagara driving tour, Porsche Centre Oakville’s very first! Great route with many nice twists and turns, ups and downs, plus includes a preview pit-stop at the site of Policaro’s new St. Catharines Porsche dealership! Be one of the first to get a glimpse of the site and plans!
Officially starting with a reception and dinner at the Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu Hotel just east of Quebec City on May 31, the tour follows the north shore of the St. Lawrence River, crossing to Matanes by ferry and rounding the Gaspe Peninsula before crossing to PEI and exploring Charlottetown. Then, again by ferry, crossing to New Brunswick and making way to the Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia, including a two-day stay at the Keltic Lodge in Ingonish. The last leg of the journey takes the group to Halifax, arriving there June 13 for a final celebration dinner. Some may take a day trip to Peggy’s Cove the following day.
This tour is planned for a small group of six Porsches. Along the way, arrangements have been made for group reservations each day at unique hotels and bed and breakfasts, including the Glenora Inn And Distillery in New Brunswick, the maker of the first single malt whiskey in Canada. However, participants can make their own arrangements for accommodations if they choose. The plan is for a group dinner most evenings to share experiences and finalize the next day’s driving plans. Participants can choose each day to drive as part of the larger group or to do some solo exploring, as they wish. So many opportunities exist along the way for whale-watching excursions, viewing the amazing Métis Gardens, taking in Anne Of Green Gables in PEI, racing the tides at the Bay Of Fundy, and sampling all the Maritimes has to offer, all while driving some spectacular roads.
Participants will each be responsible for their individual costs for accommodations, meals, optional activities and incidentals. Confirmed participants will receive information as to how to make the necessary reservations for places to stay and ferries the group takes together. A fee of $175 per person will be collected to cover certain common expenses, such as a welcome reception the first evening, special guides arranged along the way to inform the group, prizes and such.
Registration is currently open. This driving tour is already almost fully booked based on word of mouth. Once full, interested participants can sign up for a waiting list as plans can change and spots may open up. That said, for a two-week tour, most need to plan well in advance!
