THE PORSCHE GATHERING OF THE SEASON — DON’T MISS IT!

The UCR Concours d’Elegance and Show And Shine event is once again on the calendar to be held at the beautiful sprawling Firemen’s Park in Niagara Falls, on Sunday, Aug. 28, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

This gorgeous venue was a new favourite for last year’s participants. It features a picturesque landscape, complete with beautiful mature trees — the perfect backdrop to show off our beloved cars.  It is also very easy to get to, just off the QEW, about one hour from the GTA, and, at the same time, in a great destination area. You could even plan this event to be part of a great long weekend getaway but be sure to book your accommodations in the area early.

GREAT PEOPLE, GORGEOUS CARS, BEAUTIFUL GROUNDS

The Concours will have a low entry fee of only $25 per car for the participation in the peer-judged Show And Shine category. Also, back by popular demand, is the Full Concours category to be judged by an expert panel. The entry fee for this will add another $20 for a total of $45. Spectators are welcome free of charge to take in the UCR Concours but we urge you to enter your Porsche and take part in all the fun. All participants will leave the event as winners, with a beautiful memento and a goodie bag to take home.

DON’T BE SHY — THIS IS NOT JUST FOR GARAGE QUEENS

All Porsche models are welcome, from the 356 to the Taycan, and will be divided into 14 separate classes for peer judging. The Full Concours cars will be divided into nine classes and will, at the same time, also participate in the peer-judging event. Also welcome are Special Interest and Competition Porsche cars. We will even accept the slightly beaten and blemished if they are honest and true to their origin, and may have a special trophy for the best of these as well. However, we will not accept replica cars or other makes into the event.

To make for a very smooth start to the Concours, we offer pre-registration beginning on July 31 and the show will be limited to 200 show entries. Please see below for details and enter as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

DETAILS OF THE SHOW

On the day, simply arrive well before 8:30 a.m., have your Porsche guided to its spot on the field by the volunteers, park it and wander over to registration to pick up your entry package. There will be Peer Judging, with “winners” and “runners-up” in each of the 14 classes, and trophies awarded, plus we will have a People’s Choice Award Trophy as selected by all participants and spectators, and other special awards. Additionally, the Full Concours cars will also compete for winner and runner-up trophies in each of their classes.

FUN, FUN, FUN

This is a fun family event in a very relaxed setting, and a time to catch up with old and new Porsche friends and speak our common language: Porsche. There will be catering on hand to keep us happy and fed from breakfast through lunch, there will be a refreshment patio with UCR’s new official brewery partner Steam Whistle Brewing, plus other, quality amenities provided by the park.

So get ready to shine up your baby for Aug. 28 and follow the updates in the regular UCR E-blasts and on the UCR website for additional details as they unfold.

We’ll see you at the Porsche gathering of the season.

Due to the popular demand for this event and to ease the registration process on the morning of, the organizers have planned for pre-registration for the UCR Concours event again this year. Registration opens July 31 via ClubRegistration.net: https://clubregistration.net/events/signUp.cfm/event/12672

Registration is limited to the first 200 entries. If you decide to take your chances and wait to simply arrive at the gate on the morning of the event, you will most likely not be able to register as a show vehicle.

For further inquiries about the event, please contact Concours D’Elegance co-chairs: Kye Wankum at kye@kyser.ca or Michael Pohlmann at past-president@pcaucr.org.
