* It is important to note that UCR Driver Education is not racing, nor any form of competition. There are plenty of other venues if you wish to drive competitively. Our program is not one of them.
These schools are valuable for everyone, whether or not you ever participate in a track event. Drivers who do wish to enroll in our track based Driver-Ed program are required to attend a mandatory full day Introductory Driving School. The schools are held on two weekend days in April. For those who have recently purchased a car or wish to join our Advanced Driver Education events mid-season there are a couple of more expensive programs that we will accept. Contact the Track Chair for that information.
The school teaches you basic driving theory and gives you some practical experience developing car control through a series of demonstrations and exercises at the Mosport Driver Development Centre. Non-Porsche automobiles are welcome for these events and no special safety equipment is required for these Introductory Driving Schools. A Tech Inspection is not required for the IDS, however you are always responsible for the mechanical condition of your car.
Note: If you are unable to attend our ’IDS’ school but feel you have had equivalent experience with another reputable car club or high performance driving school, please contact our Chief Instructor to discuss your situation.
Advice: If you wish to participate in our Track based Driver-Ed program after completing the Introductory Driving School, you don’t have to wait until after the event. Please sign up for your track days to ensure your place in the registration queue.
