Beaver Valley Fun Run – May 25, 2013
Hosted by Dwight Dyson & Hazel de Burgh
Start: 10am @ Hwy 89 & 124, Shelbourne
End: ~3:30pm @ The Village at Blue Mountain, Collingwood
After registration and the drivers’ meeting which will commence at 10am in Shelbourne (at the junction of Hwy 89 & 124), we’ll depart at 10:15am on a twisty/hilly route north. We’ll see more windmills than you can count in an area that is Ontario’s answer to Amsterdam, then we’ll drive north alongside several sections of the Bruce Trail through some of Ontario’s best Porsche friendly roads: up hills and down pretty valleys. Next up: a hearty lunch in a local restaurant at around noon, then we’ll continue past waterfalls, lakes, rivers, and streams, and, assuming mother nature co-operates, along roads lined with apple blossoms.
We’ll then have a 45-minute stop in Thornbury, just long enough to stretch your legs and check out a few of the boutiques and galleries, where you might find a memento of your tour. Then we’ll be on the road again to see one of Ontario’s most breath-taking vistas.
Our final destination will be the Blue Mountain resort, by about 4pm – the specific destination will be identified in the driving instructions. Our event will conclude with an awards ceremony and prizes for the driver and navigator who were paying the most attention along the way!
For those who want to stay for dinner and the rest of the weekend, Blue Mountain and the surrounding area has much to offer: www.bluemountain.ca. Check it out!
