August 14, 2022 all-day
    Southern Georgian Bay

Explore the beautiful countryside along the southern shores of Georgian Bay. As usual, the group meets in the early morning at a Tim Hortons just off Highway 400 in Thornton, before departing in two run groups, winding our way through the back roads of Simcoe County. The first stop is at Edenvale Aerodrome airport where we visit the Edenvale Classic Aircraft Foundation to have a look at the Avro Arrow and other classic planes. We then continue along the shores of southern Georgian Bay to Penetanguishene and Midland where we have lunch on the patio at the Wye Heritage Marine Resort overlooking the marina and beautiful Georgian Bay. After lunch, we continue south and east to Quayle’s Brewery, located in the beautiful countryside outside of Coldwater. This is a new venue for UCR and we will hear Quayle’s unique story of being a “farm brewery” while we are treated to a private guided tour of the hop yards, the facility, and the beer-making process. Afterwards we wrap up the day with a tasting flight of the various beers (optional), some snacks, and chat about the day’s adventure.
