Erwin Komenda, designer, engineer and metallurgist, was one of the first hires to the newly founded Dr. Ing. h. c. F. Porsche GmbH in 1931. Working with Porsche, he would design the bodywork for Auto Union and Cisitalia Grand Prix cars, the Volkswagen Beetle, and most importantly to Porschephiles, the 356 and 901. His simple, fluid design language continues in Porsches today, including the new 992 generation of the 911. Join this driving tour for an enjoyable day celebrating his accomplishments and the impact they have had on our favourite marque. Coffee, tea and delicious scones and tea biscuits are served at our starting location, located close to the lake in Oakville. A brief introduction to Komenda’s life and design precedes our setting off for a scenic and leisurely drive west along Lakeshore Road. We travel to Ontario’s best wine appellation, stopping at several favourite locations for wine tasting and other delights of the Beamsville Bench. An ability to appreciate fine food, beverages and great driving roads is highly encouraged.
Hosted by Stephen and Jenn Fowler, firstname.lastname@example.org, 15 Porsches, $50 per person (includes the day’s refreshments and attraction stops)
