PCA UCR Concours d’Elegance – Show & Shine

The UCR Concours d’Élégance Show’n Shine event is a GO with a beautiful new venue at Firemen’s Park in Niagara Falls, on Saturday, September 4, from 8am until 2pm. It is very easy to get to, just off the QEW, only 1:25 hrs from Toronto City Hall and, at the same time, in a great destination area. You could even plan this event to be part of a great long weekend getaway but be sure to book your accommodations in the area now!

GREAT PEOPLE, GORGEOUS CARS, BEAUTIFUL GROUNDS

The 2021 UCR Concours event is free to participate in for all PCA members. Non-members pay an entry fee of just $20.00. Spectators are welcome free of charge to take in the UCR Concours, but we urge you to enter your Porsche and take part in the fun! ALL participants will leave the event as winners, with a beautiful memento and a goodie bag to take home.

DON’T BE SHY – THIS IS NOT JUST FOR GARAGE QUEENS

All Porsche models are welcome, from the 356 to the Taycan, and will be divided into 24 separate classes for Peer-Judging. Also welcome are Special Interest and Competition Porsche Cars. We will happily accept the slightly beaten and blemished as well, if they are honest and true to their origin and may have a special trophy for the best of these too! However, we will not accept replica cars or other makes into the Show’n Shine event.

PEER-JUDGING SHOW

On the day, simply arrive well before 8:30 am, stop at registration to pick up your entry package and park your car in the allocated area for your Porsche model and year, as directed by our volunteers. This year, there will be Peer-Judging only, with “Winners” and “Runners-up” in each of the 25 classes, and trophies awarded, plus we will have a People’s Choice Award Trophy as selected by all participants and spectators, and other special awards.

We will not feature the Full-Concours category this year, since we still need to, and should, abide by some of the COVID precautions so that everyone is comfortable at the event.

PLEASE PRE-REGISTER IF YOU WANT TO ENTER YOUR PORSCHES INTO THE COMPETITION FOR THE AWARDS

To make for a very smooth start to the event, we will offer pre-registration for those who want to enter their Porsches into the competition for awards. The show will be limited to 150 entries. Please register as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

Special Awards Presented by Our Generous Sponsors

  • Title Sponsor – Porsche Centre Oakville – Judges’ Choice Award

Porsche Centre Oakville is returning as the Title Sponsor of the UCR Concours d’Élégance Show & Shine Event this year, in a repeat of the 2019 event held in Burlington.

Porsche Centre Oakville will also be the presenter of the event’s top trophy, The Judges’ Choice Award, which will be awarded to the most outstanding Porsche present, taking into consideration originality, cleanliness, presentation, general condition and shine, and also the age of the car; this is the one that truly stands out. Every entered Porsche is eligible to win this trophy.

  • People’s Choice Award – Presented by JRP-Johnston Research and Performance

The winner of this coveted award will be selected by all those in attendance at the event, including the spectators. As the name implies, this choice can be made based on originality, cleanliness, presentation, or simply because the car just happens to speak to you and you love it for whatever reasons, including all of the above or maybe just the colour – it is indeed the popular choice. Every entered Porsche is eligible to win this trophy.

  • Best Presented Porsche Award – Presented by Sonax

The winner of this award will be selected by staff members of JRP and SONAX Canada and the UCR Concours Panel of Judges, based on originality, cleanliness, overall appearance and shine, as well as presentation, such as with displayed vehicle documentation, brochures, photos, past trophies won, and even a fancy decorated picnic basket, with the age of the car being taken into consideration as well. Select this special category if you wish to compete for it.

  • Best Restored Porsche Award – Presented by Restoration Design

The winner of this award will be selected by staff members of Restoration Design and the UCR Concours Panel of Judges. ‘Restored’ in this case can mean for the car to be fully restored, or to have received a complete repaint, or to have received a complete interior refurbishment. Mechanical improvements will not be considered for this award. Select this special category if you wish to compete for it. Entry in this category precludes entry in the ‘Best Preserved Porsche’ category below.

  • Best Preserved Original Porsche Award – Presented by Hagerty

The winner of this award will be selected by staff members of Hagerty and the UCR Concours Panel of Judges. The winner of this award will be selected on the merits of this Porsche never having received any restoration work at all. The paint, the trim and the interior are all original, and the mechanicals are of the original type, not upgraded or modified. The car may show patina, even a scratch stone chip or bubble but it is what the experts would call an ‘honest car’.  Select this special category if you wish to compete for it. Entry in this category precludes entry in the ‘Best Restored Porsche’ category above.

FUN, FUN, FUN

This is a fun family event in a very relaxed setting, and a time to catch up with old and new Porsche friends and speak our common language: Porsche. There will be catering on hand to keep us happy and fed from breakfast through lunch, plus other amenities provided by the park.

So, get ready to shine up your baby for September 4, and follow the updates in the regular UCR email blasts and on the UCR website for additional details as they unfold.

We’ll see you at THE Porsche Gathering of the Season!
