I’m interested in options to upgrade me communications system on a 997.1. Any suggestions?

On my 2007 997.1 Carrera Cabriolet, the solution was to replace the PCM with a Pioneer NEX system, which incorporated an excellent microphone system and GPS. The PCM is a “Double DIN” size component which allows for many aftermarket systems and up to date features such as Apple Play or Android equivalent. It helped that my car had the BOSE option, so speakers did not need upgrading.
Of course, the original radio is now safely boxed in the garage, to be passed on to the next owner if I ever sell this car, which seems unlikely.

Thank you for the reply! Did you have it installed by a audio shop and if so, would you recommend them? I also have a 2007 997 cabriolet so this sounds like a perfect solution.
