Just a heads up for those with 986 Boxsters (maybe 987s too) who perhaps don’t know about the water drain channels down in the body on either side of the roof. These can get plugged with leaves and debris over time, and when that happens rain that runs off the roof collects under the seats. I knew nothing about this until one day after a huge rainstorm my 2001 Boxster S went a bit haywire – door locks clicking, no roof function, no window function, etc. Turns out the body control module lives under the driver’s seat and, duh, it doesn’t like taking baths. Luckily my car would still start – sometimes they won’t. It’s an expensive fix – you need a new body control module and new keys – all of which has to be installed and programmed at a Porsche dealer.
