      Hi All!

Are there rules about where the car numbers need to be on the car? I know they need to be 6″ tall, but I’m wondering whether they need to be on the doors or if they can be on the front fenders just in front of the doors.

It matters because the fenders are steel while the doors are aluminum. So if I want to use magnetic numbers… my options are limited. 🙂

It really doesn’t matter WHERE they are. as long as we can tell WHO you are when on the track.

Crap. Numbers are too big for the fenders. 🙂

Live and learn. Might just tape them to the doors…

              This is very timely topic.

Does anyone have a good source for numbers? I would like a soft adhesive material (vinyl?) rather than magnetic since I’ve heard stories of magnetic number flying off a car and doing damage.

I would try masking tape, but that may not work well since each of my assigned numbers are full of curves.

              Thanks.

If convenient for you, give Derek at Mantis Racing in Oakville a call……..905-844-6219.

For what it’s worth… the shape of the numbers probably won’t matter much. My magnetic one, and the reusable vinyl ones from the same maker, come as an oval with the numbers on it. So all you’re attaching to the car is the oval.

I have ordered reusable vinyl numbers from http://www.soloperformance.com. They have lasted me two seasons and just ordered my second set.

Incidentally… now that I’ve got a number on my profile… do I keep this number forever with PCA or could someone poach it from me next year? 🙂

Our UCR DE Registrar will normally re-use the same assigned car number each time you register for an event. If you did not participate for a while (e.g. a couple of years or more) then your number might be re-assigned. If you go to DE events in other Regions, you may still be able to use your number if it is not already taken, but usually if it is, the local Registrar will add a 1 before or after so you can easily tape the extra digit alongside your usual number.

Excellent!! So it’s reasonably permanent so long as we stay involved. I just wanted to make sure they don’t start fresh each spring and assign new numbers. 🙂

Thank you for the suggestion of Mantis Racing, Wayne, and for soloperformance.com, PFerrf1. I’ll check them out.

I found a place in Mississauga to do my numbers in vinyl. They can do magnetic too. Global Printing Enterprises. I haven’t seen final product yet, but the proofs look good, and I’ll get them well in time for DE Aug. 15-16. They’re located in the Dixie and Britannia area. 905 670 5930 – http://www.globalprinting.ca

A couple other sources for numbers are

http://www.trackdecals.com or http://www.rennline.com though warning that the rennline numbers are huge if you have 3 numbers.
