HI Everyone, I’ve been having a problem in the last little while in that my car (87-944S) seems to “hunt” periodically when I sit at a light. Its only stalled once, but on a number of occasions, it wants to stall (It’ll drop to 250 RPM or so), but very quickly jumps back to the proper idle. It seems to get slightly worse when the AC is on.

I wonder if its the idle stabilizer valve. And if t is, is there an easy way to access it with take theing the intake above off?

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks, Bill

    Hi Bill,

It’s not easy to get to as depending on how it is connected the clips need to be cut off. One thing I have done in the past with success is use throttle body cleaner and spray down the tube. It is easier to get it off and clean or replace it properly but if you are stuck to try and fix. The seals for the AOS on my street car are going as such I get oil in those lines and need to clean periodically. Otherwise I do not know of an easy way to get it out of there without intake coming off.

    Thank you,
