    Hi All, thanks for your responses on this. So as it turned out it was the cable going alternator to the battery as Graham had suggested. it just to took a bit to learn that that was what the problem was. It was pretty badly corroded and slightly frayed. it replaced and clean and tightened now, Its all done now and things are back to what they were.

    Thanks Roger, while I agree that power is being drawn while driving, should the charging system not be charging the system? With my limited mechanical knowledge, that’s what I understand that the alternator should be doing. No?

    What am I looking for when i inspect the timing belt? Will there be cracks, fraying etc. Let me know.

    Sorry, forgot to say that this is on an 87 944S, don’t know if that makes a difference.

    Downtown porsche is who I’ve been buying parts from, I ‘m in mid town Toronto, but if if look on the inside back cover of the current Provinz, Oakville Porsche has an ad there talking about their Classic Car program.

    I agree with the dealership route. I have an 87 944S and just bought an 83 911 and the dealer stocks almost everything I have ever needed for both cars, and if its not in stock, I have never waited mare than 2-3 days for them to order it
