Hi Stefan, Did you get my 944/968 SIG email May 10 2020, with the link to the website for all the SIG info? Thanks for reminding me, I need to hotlink the items in the dec manual list. Does the one hotlink I did do work for you? Roger
Stan, Success but for privacy I will not post it here – if you email me at firstname.lastname@example.org I will connect you no problem. Or you can email me through the UCR form over on the UCR who’s who page.
Hi Stan, I am subscribed to this forum and so got a ping re your post. I lead the UCR 944/968 special interest group and there are about 20 or so 968 owners in that group, although Clive is not on that list. Let me know if you want to put your enquiry out to that group through the SIG. As you might know, you can get an up-to-date ownership record from Ontario MTO if you have the VIN. Roger Stopford
Hi, Your description is good for a SIG – all about owners of a specific model connecting to share information and help maintain and restore these great cars. I have led the 944/968 SIG for a while, and am the general co-ordinator for SIGs-in-general. I see your email from April 14 in the sig914 inbox and I will reply to you from there. I think these UCR forums are pretty unused.
Service shops that 944/968 owners have recommended:
Refined Motorsports (North York)
Lloyds Autosport (Mississauga)
RSP Motorsport (London)
Response Engineering (Port Perry)
E U Autowerks (Vaughan)
Hi JP and welcome to PCAUCR. I will send an email to the 944/968 SIG to highlight your post here. Thanks for posting. You asked about recommendations for service shops, and I know you are in Etobicoke. Let’s see what people post. I am out in Georgetown and I am not familiar with shops in your area. I used to work in Etobicoke and I used to take my 968 to Refined Motorsports/Henry Costa, who used to be local in Etobicoke but moved to North York. I have used Euroselect (Caledon) and Autoselect (Newmarket). Auguste Automotive (St. Catherines) is another popular shop. Do you have the electronic workshop manual? The rennlist forums are popular for tech help.
I find the battery can be low after the car sits for a few weeks, and I have read comments about having to lock the car to minimize the draw from the security system or something…..I just use a 12v socket trickle charger if I’m leaving the car for a while. Bu then if the battery is without power after driving for a while, that sound like something is draining the battery even when running.
Updates as-at Sept 2; I will update as our group provides info.
11 of us have provided scoring of the service shops we know (1-5, 5 being the best). 9 of us only provided scoring of a single shop. I guess we don’t use service shop every much, hence the interest in more tech on these cars in UCR. Plus the 11 of us use 9 different shops.
Aha, well I see I am replying to myself. Hmmm.
Well I have emailed the Porsche Canada gentleman who did a great job at the recent tech session at Pfaff suggesting some ideas for a tech session for the 944/968 cars.
But no other ideas from anyone….
