I use a GoPro Hero5Black which I have in a housing bolted to my Tow Hook, which is screwed into the frame. The Tow hook attachment is made by the same firm that manufactured the Tow- hook. The waterproof housing was bought off e-Bay.
I use the GoPro remote to start and stop the video. I used to review the video post session after parking in the paddock, but with a larger volume memory card now in the camera, I just set it in the morning and forget it until I’m ready to go home, starting and stopping the camera as required.
After the day ends, I remove the camera, re latch the housing, and unscrew the tow hook.
I download the raw video off the card that evening, and therefore have an empty card for the next day. I spend snowy winter days editing the footage, and analyzing my mistakes.
I’m interested in a “road trip” to a new track as well.
I’m very happy with our own DE days at Mosport (CTMP), but I’d enjoy a different track to enhance my driving skills. Any opportunity to apply skills at a different venue would be very much appreciated.
I completely concur with WW- I was in the Green run group, and words cannot describe the amazing experience- a HUGE thank you to Wallace who made the weekend a complete pleasure from start to finish because of his teaching style- and his eagerness to pass his knowledge on- especially for corner 5A! I felt VERY lucky to have the experience of rain on Sunday to learn the “wet” line on the track.
The track walk Saturday afternoon was amazing- I told a Black Group run member that I felt it was worth 100 laps of the track- and he agreed!
Other massive thank yous to everyone organizing the event- I felt very much welcome as a “Greenie” and cannot WAIT to get out there again.
What a cool experience!
I just wanted everyone to know my numbers were on my DE site login profile- I just didn’t know to look there- I was expecting an additional e-mail.
However, I looked there on Friday evening and numbers were there- so I was able to show up at the track with my numbers.
Advice to all- check out your DE site account before getting concerned about anything!!
Great tip- Thanks WW!
Thanks for the advice- I’ve writtten a note using the link but when I click on “send”, all I get is the rotating arrows beside the “send” box- I doubt if my note is being delivered.
My credit card was definitely charged- so someone somewhere knows I’m in.
I’ll just bring a roll of painters tape (thanks WW) and jury rig something last minute, although I wanted details like an assigned number taken care of long ago. No worries.
I was a bit concerned about using paper tape as it might begin to come off if it gets a bit damp- anyone ever have that issue?
Not yet, unfortunately.
I’ve waited patiently for that second e-mail containing a number, but that hasn’t materialized. I just sent a note off to DO asking if I’ve missed something. Hopefully I haven’t fallen through the cracks somewhere, but I have my initial confirmation e-mail, and I copied info from it in my message to him.
In the meantime, I’ll get out and purchase a magnetic sheet so I’m ready to print.
If all else fails some orange duct tape might do the trick.
Thanks to all for your help and great ideas.
Thanks Brian. I just have one confirmation email so far, but with only 20 days left, I’m hoping I receive another one. I’ll keep a lookout for it.
Thanks for the info regarding sourcing magnetic material!
I should add that the “Car Number” line on my confirmation e-mail was blank.
My Run Group is listed as “skidpad”.
I’m not clear what that means. Can I assume that I must complete some other qualification to be assigned a number?
I’ve just completed the IDS, and am registered for the June DE (my first), but I’m a bit ignorant of the numbering process.
To the best of my knowledge, I haven’t been assigned a number. Is this done at my first event when I get a logbook? Do I just tape a number to my backseat window?
I’ve read the drivers handbook I was given at IDS, but other than being 6 inches high, I don’t recall reading anything regarding being given a number.
Have I missed something, perhaps enclosed in an e-mail?
Thanks in advance;
