One world premiere and North American premiere of the new 911 Carrera

MISSISSAUGA – November 3, 2011 — The Porsche press conference at the Los Angeles auto show on November 16 will put the spotlight on the North American debut of the new 911 Carrera and the world premiere of a new model boasting impressive performance and dynamic looks.

The new 911 Carrera is being launched onto the US market as a completely redeveloped vehicle with a 100-mm longer wheelbase. The all-new lightweight design with its innovative aluminum-steel body makes the new generation lighter, even sportier and more comfortable. The world’s first seven-speed manual transmission is featured as standard, with the Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK), also with seven speeds, available as an alternative. New active control systems elevate driving dynamics to an unprecedented level.

Setting the standard in its class, as it has for generations, the new 911 Carrera raises the performance and efficiency bar yet again. Fuel consumption and emissions are up to 16 per cent lower compared with its predecessor.

Visitors to the Porsche stand will be treated to a cross-section of the product portfolio with the hybrid variants of the Panamera and Cayenne combining sporty performance and high efficiency. In the luxury class, the Panamera S Hybrid is the fastest, yet at the same time most economical, full hybrid with the lowest CO2 emissions; the Cayenne S Hybrid with the same engine brings Porsche technology to bear on the SUV market. Both offer a total power output of 380 hp (279 kW) and can cover not just short distances on purely electric power but at higher speeds can coast as well, making for especially low emissions.
