Ski Day turned out to be a very enjoyable day with surprisingly good ski conditions given the rain and warm temperatures experienced earlier in the week of our scheduled ski day. Fortunately, fresh snow arrived in ski country the day prior and was supplemented by overnight snowmaking, which combined for full white coverage on the trails and made skiing easy and enjoyable. While the day started off quite cold and windy at -12C and feeling much colder, the sun came out in the afternoon to make skiing very pleasant as the day progressed.
Nearly 40 UCR members and guests ranging from beginners to experts enjoyed the day and benefitted from the uncrowded slopes ahead of the weekend with no lift lines at Osler Bluff Ski Club to get maximum time on the slopes. Due to the cold temperatures and many enjoying the warmth of the clubhouse at lunch, I set up the après ski early back at the chalet so participants could choose to continue skiing or spend more time to enjoy a glass of wine and some cheese by a warm fire. There the conversation was around the enjoyable day on the slopes, skiing adventure stories and of course, our Porsches and plans for club activities when the snow melts. We thank Hazel de Burgh again for being our photographer this year.
