From the earliest days of my childhood in Toronto, the iconic silhouette of the Porsche 911 captured my imagination. Featured in cinematic hits like Top Gun and Patriot Games the allure of the 911 wasn’t just a fleeting dream – it was a beacon, drawing me closer to the world of high-performance automobiles. Growing up, a poster of a 911 adorned my wall, symbolizing speed, design, and engineering excellence. With a degree in engineering from the University of Waterloo and a burgeoning career in technology, my path seemed to diverge from automotive passions, yet the siren call of the 911 was irresistible.Â
The Leap into High Performance
My deep dive into the world of high-performance driving began at the tail end of the COVID-19 pandemic, marked by the acquisition of my first Porsche: a 911 Turbo 991.2 GT Silver. With an instructor by my side, I ventured onto the track, quickly realizing how much there was to learn. From mastering driving lines to understanding the critical importance of tires and weight transfer, each lesson was a revelation, transforming every lap into a lesson in physics and fortitude.

The Community and Education
Joining PCA UCR was more than just a membership – it was an entry into a community of enthusiasts and experts. The High Performance Driver Education (HPDE) through the Upper Canada region wasn’t just about honing skills but about building relationships. As a woman in a predominantly male environment, the camaraderie and support from both male and female members have been invaluable. The men and women I meet on the track aren’t just fellow drivers – they are mentors, friends, and fellow aficionados.

Adventures Abroad and Achievements at Home
The journey with Porsche took an exciting turn with the purchase of the 992 Turbo S, which I picked up through a European delivery program. Driving through the mountain passes of Germany, Switzerland, and Italy – including the legendary Stelvio and Furka passes – was not just a test of skill but a breathtaking adventure. Each narrow, fog-laden road was a challenge met with the confidence gained from countless hours of instruction and practice.
Back in Canada, the thrill of conquering the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, a technically demanding and high-speed course, brings a unique sense of achievement. Each clean run strengthens the bond between driver and vehicle, pushing the limits of what I thought possible and allowing me to experience the 911 as it was meant to be driven.

A Partnership on and off the Track
Throughout this thrilling journey, the unwavering support of my husband, Alex Tessier, has been instrumental. His encouragement and enthusiasm for every lap and new challenge have bolstered my confidence and deepened our shared passion for Porsche.
For Those Who Dare to Dream
To those new to the Porsche experience or considering HPDE, remember: the journey is as rewarding as the destination. Don’t be intimidated – embrace your passion, take your time to learn, and enjoy every moment. The keys to success are consistency and patience. Whether you’re navigating the daily commute or the next sharp corner on a storied racetrack, the principles of precision driving can enhance every drive.
Looking Ahead
As I continue to grow both as a driver and a Porsche enthusiast, the future holds the promise of racing, further exploration of the limits of both my cars and myself. For now, each lap, each mountain pass, and each moment of shared enthusiasm with fellow Porsche lovers is a step closer to that dream.
To all my fellow enthusiasts – see you on the track, and let’s keep pushing the boundaries of speed, engineering, and passion. </>
