ONCE AGAIN, the unofficial WG & CC Chapter of PCA UCR decided to organize another Muskoka fun run to view the fall colours. So the group set out on Oct. 13 — Muskoka residents and Windermere Golf & Country Club members, Porsche friends and spouses Nick and Sue Nicolaou, Don and Diane Burwell, and Greg Boehmer — driving a base Boxster, Boxster S and one 911 4S. The scenic fall cruise through Muskoka started at the old Clevelands House parking lot in Minett, with the route once again plotted by Don Burwell.
The day was overcast and dreary with rain in the air, but we optimistically started with our convertible tops down, but only for about five kilometres until it started to rain, which then persisted for most of the run.
We turned on to Peninsula Road and continued to the lovely village of Rosseau, on probably some of the best curvy Porsche driving roads around. We went west on Highway 141 towards Parry Sound and joined Highway 400 for about 20 kilometres towards McDougall.
Then onto Highway 124 east through McKellar, to Magnetawan. A jog on to Highway 520 southeast to Burk’s Falls for a short drive to our designated lunch stop. We then met up with our very own Provinz Editor, Dave Walker in his Aventurine Green 993 911 at the Tim Hortons in Burk’s Falls, but decided there wasn’t much in the way of restaurants for lunch, so instead, we proceeded on Highway 11 and 592 to Huntsville, where we stopped for lunch at Westside Fish & Chips.
Dave decided to show us a very scenic route out of Huntsville around Lake Vernon to Aspdin Road via Ravenscliffe Road and Hoodstown Road, where he left us to return home. We continued back to Rosseau and to the start in Minett. Overall run time was about 3 hours.
The fall colours were nice but not spectacular, since they were past their prime by about one week. Still a wonderful opportunity to get the P-cars out in their natural environment and enjoy a great drive before we put them all to bed for the winter. </>
