1958 Porsche 356 A

I’VE ALWAYS BEEN FASCINATED BY CARS, including restoring and driving them. As a teenager, I learned a lot about cars rallying and off-road racing classic Minis. In recent years, my focus has turned to the Porsches I could never afford as a teenager. The 356 A you see here was purchased by me as a “project” in 2012 and quickly became the subject of a full rotisserie restoration.

After media blasting the entire body, seeing the extent of the rust damage was a bit intimidating, but I pressed on. All the rusted and damaged panels were repaired or replaced with new sheet metal. The car was returned to its original Meissen Blau with red interior. The numbers-matching engine was refreshed along with the tranny. Although the car has a few personal touches, it is very close to being true to its original factory specs. My wife, Cathy, and I enjoy driving our 356 in multi-day vintage car rallies and it’s always fun to drive it to Carbs & Coffee events. </>
