Muskoka Fall Tour

A group of fifteen Porsche cars, with drivers and navigators gathered at the Timmie’s on highway 11 on the morning of September 30 for the Muskoka fall driving tour. You could not have asked for a better day, bright sunshine and pleasantly warm. Our hosts for the driving tour, Greg Symmes and his wife Ardith had prepared a special tour through the Muskokas. This was Greg’s first occasion to organize a tour and he dutifully ensured everyone completed their waivers and he held a thorough safety briefing before leading the way in his beautiful 996 Targa.

As Greg and Ardith live in the Muskokas, he had local knowledge of the best secondary roads for driving pleasure. After leaving the Tim’s, we travelled through some spectacular countryside with winding roads and hills and touching on the many lakes. The forests had the fall colours in perfect bloom. This was the peak weekend with maples in vibrant reds and yellows and birches in brilliant gold. The colours reflected on the many waterways we passed by. In the morning our route touched on the Haliburton area and then on to Dorset , through the Lake of Bays area and on to Baysville for our lunch stop. Greg was able to arrange for our group to have the entire Cast Iron restaurant to ourselves. Our cars filled the parking lot with vibrant colours, reds, yellows, orange to complement the fall colours as well as many shades of blue; Miami, Shark and Gentian to reflect the tones of the lakes we passed by.

After the delicious lunch we continued on to a number of ports; Sydney, Stanley and Carling with Greg’s route taking us through the beautiful village of Rosseau. Then we headed on to Bracebridge where we ended the tour at the Muskoka Brewery. The group reviewed the spectacular drive and discussed cars over a beverage. We thanked Greg and Ardith for an amazing job as their first tour. A wonderful day! </>
