Winter is not typically the best time to get together for outdoor Porsche events. However, the PCA UCR ski day we held in mid-February had our largest ski group yet, with over eighty registrants. Ski Day Chairs Tom Arndt and Don Lewtas hosted the day at the private Osler Bluff Ski Club, about two hours north of Toronto.
The day started with a picture of our group in front of the Osler Clubhouse. While this winter has not had an abundance of natural snow, a snowfall in ski country the week leading up to our event and the benefit of artificial snow made the skiing conditions very good, with almost all ski runs at Osler open. A favourite run of our Porsche skiers, “Gulch”, with its multiple high banked “S” turns through the forest, was unfortunately not open. The day started with sun but gradually clouded over. That did not slow down our skiers. It was a great time on the slopes, and no lift lineups at the private ski club meant most of the time was spent skiing.

Toward the end of the day, we had an Apres Ski gathering in a private area of the clubhouse for our group to have some snacks and share stories about the day on the mountain and our favourite cars.
We also had prizes for correct answers to skill-testing questions about Porsche, skiing, and our day on the trails. Did you know there was a Porsche Model 212 – that was used just for skiing? We awarded Porsche-related items and a round of golf for two at OslerBrook Golf Club. It was a terrific day for our ski group, with a number of families attending, and it was a nice way to actively get together when many of us have our cars in hibernation mode for the winter.
It has been our pleasure to host ski days for a number of years, but we have decided it is time to pass the torch on to someone else. A number of people have expressed interest—if you would like to be involved in organizing future ski days, please let us know. </>
