2024 Shift Into Spring

For those of us who hibernate our Porsche for the winter, Shift into Spring used to be the time when we could safely uncover the car, clean it up a bit and hit the road. I’ve been involved in staging Shift for over 20 years and can remember snow being on the ground at this time of the year! But if this year is an example of what the future will bring, we’ll be holding it in the latter part of March and not late April/early May some day!! Oh well, all the more time to enjoy our Porsches.

Shift is an event that gives us the chance to thank our many vendors. We’re lucky to have the Goodie Store show up with a huge selection of fleeces, t-shirts, jackets, etc., all to visibly show our appreciation for the Upper Canada Region and Porsche. And we are lucky to have the 427 AutoCollision facility to work with. Our deepest thanks to Lorenzo, Frank, Jessica and John for clearing out their vast production area for the use of UCR. They arranged for a really good food truck. 427 donated all the money around the food to the Children’s Wish Foundation. There were also some significant door prizes, including a $500 gift card from Bruce Farrow and Randy Gananathan towards an appraisal of your P-car.

We tweaked things a bit this year – with a lively disc jockey (thanks to our President Kathrin for arranging this) and a much expanded Swap Meet. Both proved to be very successful. Also, the classic Porsche exhibit drew crowds. It is so great when you see early and new 911s side by side. You know the design cues are the same, but Porsche has managed to evolve while sticking to the original look.

So, now that Shift is behind us, we look forward to a spring and summer of indulging in our Porsches. We are truly lucky. </>
