A Guide to Rally Tours

Rally Tours, often hailed as one of the most exhilarating forms of motorsport, offer participants a unique blend of adventure and exploration, with a mild competitive element. Unlike traditional racing circuits, rallies take place on public roads, challenging drivers and navigators to navigate a designated route while adhering to posted speed limits and traffic laws. As participants embark on this adrenaline-fueled journey, they immerse themselves in a route that includes scenic landscapes and winding roads.

What is a Navigation Rally?
A navigation or timed rally is a competitive event in which teams consisting of a driver and a navigator traverse a predetermined course, aiming to complete it in the closest possible time to a target time set by the organizers. Each team is provided with a set of rally instructions detailing the route and various checkpoints along the way. The challenge lies not in sheer speed but in precision and adherence to the given instructions.

The Rally Experience
The excitement of rally racing lies in its unique format, which encourages teamwork, strategy, and sharp navigational skills. Teams set off at one-minute intervals, each armed with a co-driver equipped with a clipboard, calculator, and crayon (or pen). The driver is handed the rally instructions, which include directions and driving distances. As they progress through the course, cars will complete a set number of timed legs that end at checkpoints. To complete each phase at the designated time, drivers and navigators must communicate effectively to decipher instructions, calculate precise timings, and make split-second decisions to stay on track.

Rules of the Road
Safety is paramount in rally racing. While the competitive spirit runs high, all participants are required to obey traffic laws and regulations at all times. The first checkpoint serves as a control point to verify odometer accuracy, ensuring fairness and accuracy in timing. Success in rallies isn’t determined by sheer speed, but rather by a combination of navigational prowess, adherence to instructions, and precise time management.
