Porsche Centre Oakville Presents
The 2024 PCA-UCR Concours d’Élégance and Show & Shine Event
Sunday, August 25, 2024, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm
Firemen’s Park – Niagara Falls
The UCR Concours d’Élégance and Show & Shine event will once again be held at beautiful Firemen’s Park in Niagara Falls. This gorgeous venue has been a favourite for three annual UCR Concours events now. It features a picturesque landscape complete with beautiful mature trees; the perfect backdrop to show off our beloved cars! It’s also very easy to get to, just off the QEW, only 1:25 hrs. from Toronto City Hall and, at the same time, in a great destination area.
TWO CATEGORIES TO CHOOSE FROM
As in previous years, the event will offer two categories to enter your car in, of which you would choose one or the other: Show & Shine with Peer-Judging, where you and your fellow entrants will select your choice of best car in each of the 26 classes that will be represented; or Full-Concours, which is limited to 30 entries of Classic Porsches up to the 2012 model year, where a panel of trained UCR judges will give your car a very thorough inspection and score it accordingly – a great way to learn more about your car!
GREAT PEOPLE, GORGEOUS CARS, BEAUTIFUL GROUNDS
The Concours will have a low entry fee of only $25.00 per car for the participation in the peer-judged Show & Shine category, while the entry fee for the Full-Concours category will be $45.00, which includes the general entry fee to the event.
Spectators are welcome free of charge to take in the UCR Concours but we urge you to enter your Porsche and take part in the fun! ALL participants will leave the event as winners, with a beautiful event memento and a goodie bag to take home.
DON’T BE SHY – THIS IS NOT JUST FOR GARAGE QUEENS
All Porsche models are welcome, from the 356 to the Taycan, and will be divided into 26 separate classes for the Show & Shine with Peer-Judging. The Full-Concours cars will be divided into eight classes – for more on that category, please see the article below from our new chief judge, Raffaele Sasso.
We will also gladly accept the slightly beaten and blemished in the Show & Shine if they are honest and true to their origin and will have a special trophy for the best of these cars as well! However, we will not accept replica cars or other makes into the event.
To ensure a very smooth start to the Concours event, we will offer pre-registration only and the show will be limited to 200 total entries. Please see the sidebar for details and enter as early as possible to avoid disappointment.
DETAILS OF THE SHOW
On the day, simply arrive by no later than 9:00 am, have your car guided to its spot on the field by the volunteers, park it and wander over to registration to pick up your entry package. There will be Peer-Judging, with “Winners” and “Runners-up” in each of the 26 classes, and trophies awarded, plus we will have a People’s Choice Award Trophy, as selected by all participants and spectators, plus other special awards as well. Additionally, the Full-Concours cars will also compete for Winner and Runner-Up trophies in each of their eight classes, plus a Judges’ Choice Trophy, awarded by our Presenting Sponsor, Porsche Centre Oakville. The Full-Concours category will again be completely separate from the Show & Shine this year, so you can only opt to be in one or the other and aim to win a trophy in only one of the two categories. This will avoid having one car gathering up all of the top trophies of the event.
FUN, FUN, FUN
This is a fun family event in a very relaxed setting, and a time to catch up with old and new Porsche friends and speak our common language: Porsche. There will be quality catering on hand to keep us happy and fed from breakfast through lunch, there will be a refreshment patio, plus other quality amenities provided by the park.
So, get ready to shine up your baby for August 25 and follow the updates in the regular UCR email blasts and on the UCR website for additional details as they unfold: www.pcaucr.org/concours.
VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES AND INQUIRIES
We are always happy to bring more volunteers on board. The more help we have, the lighter the load for everyone. Plus, we’ll provide a free breakfast and volunteer shirts and hats too!

Once you’ve determined which class your Porsche fits into for the Full-Concours category, you’ll be able to make an easy selection in the registration process on ClubRegistration.Net.
On Concours day, a package with all of the judging forms and a vehicle ID tag will be ready for you and, once placed in the Full-Concours corral, all vehicles will be inspected by a team of trained UCR judges, beginning at 10:00 am.
What the Judges will be looking for:
- emphasis is on preparation, condition and cleanliness
- originality, and authenticity where parts were replaced with the correct Porsche replacement part
- everything functions just as when it left the Porsche factory, and has been maintained in a similar fashion to the original
Procedure:
- All entrants will present their vehicles completely closed.
- When the judges arrive at the entrant’s vehicle, the entrant first introduces her or himself and gives a 2-minute overview about their Porsche, including any interesting facts.
- Then, after an initial inspection of the exterior, the lead judge will request that the entrant fully open all areas; the doors, storage areas/compartments and engine cover. The Cayman and Boxster models will not have their engines judged.
- Areas of judging will be: exterior, interior, engine compartment and storage compartments.
- These areas of judging will be scored, tallied and winners will be announced at a designated time on Concours day. First and second prizes will be given at that time in each class, plus a Judges’ Choice Trophy will be awarded to that one car the judges feel really stood out in the group.
Volunteering Opportunities:
A shoutout to all the previous judges and judging support volunteers (i.e., runners, timers, etc.) from last year and previous UCR Concours events. Your help was very much appreciated, and we hope that you can join us again this year. Please contact me at your convenience.
Once again, this event also provides the opportunity for new judges to come on board. We will train you at a restoration shop near Vaughan Mills, where you will have a choice of one of the following dates we are currently contemplating: Wednesday, August 7th from 6:30 to 8:30pm, Saturday, August 10th or Sunday August 11th, with time slot of 10am to 12 noon or 1:30 to 3:30pm.
At the event, we provide breakfast and give you a Judges’ Hat and T-shirt. This is a great learning experience, and it all takes place in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Not to mention the opportunity to meet more great people from our club and learn about Porsches!
